Hydrogen is the ideal energy carrier. But it has to be generated. There are different pathways and BASF offers products to efficiently produce hydrogen in any scale.
There are many ways to produce hydrogen – which makes this energy carrier so fascinating for industry, politics and science. You can produce it via electrolysis from water, e. g., by utilizing electrical power from wind power or solar panels. Or you can produce it by reforming hydrocarbons such as biogas, natural gas or diesel fuels. Alcohols are also a hydrogen source. Since the storage and distribution of hydrocarbons can be done easily, the focus is on reformation for the time being. BASF Catalysts offers a variety of catalysts for all steps of reformation.
